What this extension does
TeamPulse Activity Tracker is a companion browser extension for the TeamPulse desktop application, an employee time-tracking and productivity monitoring tool used by organizations to oversee their own staff. The extension only functions when the TeamPulse desktop app is installed, running, and an employee is logged in with active work tracking.
What data is collected
While work tracking is active, the extension reads the URL and page title of the browser tab currently in focus, along with how long that tab remained active. This data is sent exclusively to the TeamPulse desktop application running on the same computer, at http://127.0.0.1:37891. The extension never contacts any external server directly.
The desktop app stores this data locally and, if the organization's administrator has configured cloud sync, uploads it to the organization's TeamPulse backend for display in the employer's admin dashboard. The employer, not the extension developer, controls this data and its retention.
What data is not collected
- No page content, form data, passwords, or keystrokes are read.
- No browsing data is collected when work tracking is paused or the employee is logged out.
- No data is sent to any server other than the local TeamPulse desktop app.
- Browser-internal pages (
chrome://,edge://,about:) are never captured.
Permissions used
tabs— required to read the active tab's URL and title so it can be reported to the desktop app.
host_permissions (127.0.0.1:37891) — required to send data to the TeamPulse desktop app running locally on the same machine. This permission cannot be used to contact any other host.
Who this extension is for
This extension is intended for installation on company-owned or company-managed devices, by employees whose employer has deployed TeamPulse for workforce monitoring with the employee's knowledge. It is not intended for personal, non-workplace use.
